The Municipal Government of Pasacao has started enforcing its “no single-use plastics” ordinance, allowing the town to further contribute to the climate change mitigation efforts of the country.

Mayor Niño Tayco announced the kick-off of its implementation on October 20, 2025 in a Facebook post on his official account. The mandate is now being implemented in the entire town to minimize the use of the harmful single-use plastic containers, packaging, and utensils that pollute the environment.

Mayor Tayco conducted the Deployment Briefing with the Pasacao Public Safety and Traffic Management Officers, PNP Pasacao, and barangay chiefs. They are the primary enforcers of the ordinance, which is an offshoot of the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) Resolution No. 1363, s. 2020.

They were also tasked to educate establishment owners about the negative effects of single-use plastics on the environment.

“This is another effort under my administration’s flagship program HATAW Pasacao, particularly the part which calls for ‘Ataman sa Kapalibutan’ (Care for the Environment),” Mayor Tayco said.
