PASACAO, Camarines Sur – Summer just got hotter with the colorful opening of the 13th Daruanak Summer Festival in late March 2026.

Mayor Niño A. Tayco led the opening of the festival on March 28 with a Color Fun Run which attracted hundreds of joiners and running enthusiasts. The event was opened to the public with a free registration to ensure that every Pasaqueño and their invited visitors could join the beginning of the Summer festival. Hundreds of runners joined, including Mayor Tayco himself, Vice Mayor Jorge Bengua, the Sangguniang Bayan members, other officials, and municipal employees.

It was immediately followed by the opening of the Banchetto (food fair) in Sitio Sarimao, Caranan, which featured the small food businesses of Pasacao and nearby towns. Stalls were given to these businesses by the local government unit of Pasacao where they served various food and drinks which fed the hundreds of residents and visitors that came to the town for the festival. A fire dance presentation by different groups in the beach in Sarimao at night completed the day.

On April 13, five events were lined up and organized for the people of Pasacao. The Barangay Day celebration included a Kasalang Bayan where several couples were wedded by Mayor Tayco in a beautiful public ceremony at SigNature Park in Barangay Sta. Rosa del Norte. The newly-married couples and their witnesses and families were also treated to a sumptuous lunch by the Municipal Government during the reception. The wedding service and reception were entirely free.

Pasaqueños also benefitted from the medical and dental services at the Serbisyo Caravan, a joint project by the Municipal Government, the Rural Health Unit Pasacao, the Department of Health Bicol, and the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur under the leadership of Gov. Luis Raymund Villafuerte and Cong. Luigi Villafuerte.

The 2026 Hataw Green Barangay Challenge, a project under Mayor Tayco’s flagship program HATAW Pasacao, was also conducted. The project is an ongoing effort to promote cleanliness, recycling, and proper waste segregation at the community-level.

Later in the night, officials and groups were given their awards for their service to the public in a ceremony at the Barangay Service and Loyalty Awards. Among the awardees was Mayor Tayco himself for his 30 years in public service.

The first and second month of the Summer festival ended with the Skimboarding event that attracted local skimboarders in Pasacao. Skimboarding is one of the sports activities that is popular in Pasacao’s brown beaches.
