Pursuant to the Proclamation No, 227 s. 1988, known as Providing for the observance of the Month of March as ‘Women’s Role in History Month and strengthened by R.A. 6949 s. 1990, which is the Act to Declare March Eight of Every Year as a Working Special Holiday to be Known as National Women’s Day, the LGU Pasacao led by Hon. Mayor Jorge ‘Jojo’ R. Bengua bats for the Women and Children’s Rights by spearheading the 2023 National Women’s Month Celebration held at the Pasacao Municipal Covered Court last March 8, 2023.
With the celebration’s theme: WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society, the event was sponsored by LGU Pasacao and the Pasacao Women’s Organization. Gracing the event were Hon. Mayor Jorge ‘Jojo’ R. Bengua; Acting Municipal Administrator, Gina Bengua; and Hon. Vice Mayor Maryol O. Tayco were all the 3 have given their messages. Highlighting the occasion was a symposium on Republic Acts 11313 (Safe Spaces Act), 9262 (Anti-violence Women and their Children Act of 2004), and 8353 (Anti Rape Law of 1997) where PCPT Maria Victoria I. Regonaos served as the resource speaker.
Concluding the day-long event was the awarding of certificates of participation and photo shoot opportunities among the seminar participants and guests.
The 2023 National Women’s Month Celebration marks a juncture in the advancement of women’s rights as it launches a new recurring theme from this year to 2028: WE for gender equality and inclusive society. In line with this, the LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT OF PASACAO joins the nation in celebrating the 2023 National Women’s Month.
